Lies

I have seen recently in New Scientist that an automated lie-detection system will ask travellers questions during a six-month pilot at four border crossing points in Hungary, Latvia and Greece.

I also remember watching numerous episodes of Red Dwarf where Lister tried to get Kryten to lie.

So how does this all fit in with driverless cars I hear you ask.

A friend told me recently how he had managed a secret McDonalds breakfast due to his perfect timing dropping stuff off at the dump “the queue as usual at the dump was massive”!!

I am sure all of us has at some time used imaginary traffic congestion to hide spending an extra half hour somewhere i.e. shops, cafe, chilling out away from the kids……

Trouble is driverless cars like Kryten cannot lie.

I would guess that all driverless cars will record every second of every day as to where they went, how far they travelled, who was in the car and be able to pin point exact locations they were at throughout the day.

Whilst for the most of us, for most of the time ,this will not be a problem.

But what about my friend who sneaked off for a McDonalds breakfast. Will he in future be chomping into his Bacon and Egg McMuffin panicking that if his wife was curious where he had been all she had to do was ask the car.

Obviously, there are loads more verifying degree reasons why someone might not want their car being asked by various people as to where it had been at certain times.

So remember in  a future world of driverless cars if your other half suggests they want a non-driverless car it might just mean they are missing their secret McDonalds breakfast every Sunday morning or alternatively they have other reasons for not wanting the car blabbing where it had been, unless like Lister they manage to get their driverless car to lie.
